The spiritual head of Viswakalyana Mission, Scholar, Mystic and writer. Birth -
March 13, 1946; B. Sc., M.A., She is perhaps the first Women to ascend to the
seat of Jagadguru/ She has made a special study of Basava's philosophy and
teachings, and has given lucid exposition of the Vachanas in her writings and
eloquent speeches. Has started an institution 'Jaganmatha Akkamahadevi Ashram'
at Dharwar, which provides training and guidance to spiritual seekers,
especially girls and women. She is dedicated to the uplift of women and the
downtrodden sections of society. A prolific writer, she has authored and
published about eighty works including the renowed expositions Basava's life
and Works, Basava Tatva Darsana, and the Sahitya Academy Award-winner novel
Heppitta Halu. Another novel Tarangini has been awarded First prize by
Karnataka Vidyavardhaka Sangha.

In 1976, she toured and lectured in Great Britain , being invited as the chief
guest in the "Symposium on Indian religions", arranged by the Oriental
Institute of British Universities. Being invited by V.S.N.A of North America
she undertook the tour to U.S.A. and Canada during 1980-1981, and U.S.A in
2003. In her recent tour to U.S.A. Mataji has founded and has opened "Universal
Centre Of Basava Philosophy", In Austin, San Jose and Newyork. She has toured
the eight states Texas, California, Illinois, Pensylvenia, Florida, Washington
D.C. and Michigan states vigourously popularising Basava philosophy.
